Don't Get Caught By the Swiss!

So today we trek to the Vatican. Of course there's a line around the block of people trying to enter. As we're waiting, there were numerous people offering special "tours" of their own. Most memorable was a man, probably Indian or Sri Lankan, who started off with "Good Morning, China!"

Finally LIsa led us past the line, towards the entrance. It was like a FastPass at Disneyland, except we're going to Church. Our whole group enters, except for the last straggling 5, which included me. As we attempt to enter, the Vatican Security stops us. Lisa starts talking to him, showing him papers. As Lisa is attempting to let us in, she winks at us, and waves the first two in.

This did not make him happy. From hand gestures I gathered he was telling her that we could not enter without reservations. Again, they we talking, and with Lisa trying to explain, I follow her subtle hand gestures to walk through. I saw her wink once, and I heard the officer's ticket scanner drop to the floor. Without looking back I head on through.

After more lines and x-ray scans, we see Lisa enter the doors, following a security officer. Oh boy.

It's okay though, no was arrested. It was so busy the guy had to go take care of other things, and we just bought our tickets.

The Vatican was amazing. So much artwork, with 12 different museums. Unfortunately we passed by many things, only briefly touching on certain art pieces. Of course we saw the sistine chapel which was absolutely gorgeous, even with the low lighting they had to protect the frescos. i was surprised to even see modern artwork, such as Salvador Dahli. Lisa explained that the Vatican continues to commission art, which actually makes sense.

I ended the trip by sending some pretty cool postcards back to Seattle.
